A prayer that is asking for the ability to pray!!
As I gaze at this piece a thousand thoughts come to mind but one message carries through...
‘Master of the Universe, let me connect to my innermost place and share with my mouth the Torah and wisdom that resides there.’

In this weeks workshop we learned the Hebrew letter Gimel ג!!
We learned that Gimel is shaped as if in motion- the motion of a person giving a coin to charity.
גומל דלים
We create balance in the universe when we give of something we have in excess to someone who is lacking this thing.
Teaching wisdom is the highest form of this idea... Can’t wait for the next class Wednesday February 26th!!

As it appears in this weeks Torah reading!!
Sang by the Israelites after Crossing the Red Sea and witnessing all of the miracles HaShem preformed for them.
It begins “Then Moshe and the Israelites sang this song to the Lord.” It wasn’t enough that the Leader and prophet Moshe sing but each and every person is described as singing for themselves. Our commentaries stress the deep importance of each individual experiencing the hand of God in an active and direct way...

Yesterday was International Holocaust Memorial Day
This IDF prayer in the shape of a praying soldier represents our bold answer to the unbearable events of the Holocaust. Armed forces and prayer. Together these two things ensure our active surviaval and ability to enlighten the world with Torah and innovation.
My mind wonders to the most powerful lesson I ever heard that helped me throughout my life and IDF service as a paratrooper from 2012-2014...
“What should one do when they are totally exhausted and want to give up?” asked my Rabbi and mentor Rav Yair in excitement. “They must look around themself and find someone whose problems seem even worse than their own and begin to push them forward” exclaimed Rav Yair.

Only through helping others can we loose sense of our own limitations and tap into our unlimited resources of strength.
